Step 1: Review eligibility and affiliation
Contact NEXA about your California DRE license status and the referral-only program. Review and sign the required brokerage agreements only after you understand the affiliation and fee terms.
An inquiry or website form submission does not itself transfer your license, affiliate you with NEXA or authorize you to begin licensed referrals.
Step 2: Recognize a real estate need
A friend, former client, coworker or family member may need help buying, selling or relocating. You may explain your limited referral role and identify a potential introduction without offering representation, pricing counsel or negotiation.
Step 3: Submit a broker-approved referral
You provide the referral information through the authorized NEXA process. The broker evaluates the proposed receiving agent/brokerage and arranges the appropriate written referral terms.
A referral agreement must be in place as required by the brokerage before expecting compensation. Not every introduction results in a compensable referral.
Step 4: The receiving agent handles the transaction
The receiving active agent communicates with the client, arranges showings, provides brokerage advice, prepares agreements and manages the transaction. The referral associate does not take over those functions.
NEXA’s existing agent portal supports referral submission, status tracking, agreements and private communication after an associate has been approved and onboarded.
Step 5: Compensation is handled through the brokers
A referral fee may become due if the requirements of the written broker-to-broker agreement are met and the transaction qualifies. The brokerage receives the money and pays its affiliated associate according to the written NEXA agreement and applicable law.
Referral income is not guaranteed. The NEXA fee schedule determines the applicable brokerage deduction when a compensable referral closes.
